Gee, I think rain would be nice. That would mean it was warm enough for water to be liquid. It is -13 degrees here.

That is true, he did work in the civil service in DC for the Department of Indian Affairs. That was where he started acting, in plays in Washington, and when he decided to go to NY and try to be an actor, he got his civil service rating up high enough so that he could always come back on that level, went to NY and never had another non-acting job again as long as he lived. Thank you so much for commenting, I'm glad to know that you remember him so well.

My accountant uses first and last mileages of the year, and says if we're using mileage then we don't include gas receipts, unless it's for out-of-town business trips. But then our independent-contractor work does not involve driving to the extent yours does, so it may be different. Not to mention we each have our own cars. (My accountant is also certified by the IRS as an auditor so I'm generally confident he's not doing anything wrong or shady.)

This sounds very much like how I spent the two weeks before Christmas - we had two rescue chihuahuas staying with us during the holidays, until their forever-home was ready. (It's all over facebook - Pete and Rusty. Pete's blind, sadly Rusty, who was very old, had to be put down on Christmas eve.)

They'd been in a shelter with BIG dogs for a month, and were old, tired, scared, and skittish but Rusty climbed into my lap the day before he went to the Rainbow Bridge, and Pete was my friend by the time I turned him over to his new owner.

Of course, now Pete has become a little blind ball of destruction. New owner showed pix - he Ate the Couch.
